There are many things done and many things in progress...

“There are many things done and many things in progress*," said Mayor O’Neil. "It has been a rewarding experience to work together with business leaders and residents to build an ever improving Edmond.”

Mayor O’Neil said that he ran for office two years ago with a promise to preserve the Edmond Experience, to keep our citizens informed and involved and show respect to all citizens. “I promised to promote orderly development that is balanced and fair for both business and residents. I have done my best to accomplish this,” said Mayor O’Neil.

O’Neil added he has worked hard to build a relationship among all our citizens, so that they can work together to create a community with “a promising future, while still protecting the values we cherish about our hometown.” He thanked all who volunteer their time and talents in our community, stating that these “citizens have been instrumental in the success of our city.”

In Troubled Economic Times, Edmond is Blessed...

O’Neil stated, that at a time, when the nation’s economy is stalling, Edmond is blessed with new housing and ongoing construction around town. He also pointed out that Edmond’s retail sales taxes are impressive in light of the current national economy. “We have seen major development in our community and the I-35 corridor is starting to be the promising economic engine of our town. Yet, we have done this while still preserving the Edmond lifestyle we all love,” he said.

The Mayor stated that council members and an exceptional Edmond city staff have worked hard to add many improvements to the community by adding a fourth community park, an expanded soccer complex, an extended trails system, and upgraded outdoor storm warning system. “We are improving our section line roads to four lanes and resurfacing neighborhood streets. We are expanding our water infrastructure, improving electrical and recycling services. City services will continue to be upgraded and improved.”

O’Neil looked toward the future and continued, “We will be ready to meet the challenges of the next decade and beyond. A land use plan is in place for the future development of east Edmond and we are implementing our first Master Transportation Plan.”
